Anti-Rabies Guidelines

Follow these steps carefully after an animal bite to protect yourself from rabies.

Wash the wound immediately

Clean the bite/scratch with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes.

Use povidone-iodine, spirit, or alcohol to disinfect the wound.

Avoid chili, mud/dirt, oil, turmeric, or any local substances.

Take Anti-Rabies Vaccine
Take Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV)
Start vaccination on Day 0 (same day), then Day 3, 7, 14, and 28 as prescribed.

Take Rabies Immunoglobulin
Take Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) if advised
For deep or severe bites, RIG is given around the wound.

Doctor may recommend tetanus protection along with treatment.

Report fever, pain, tingling, or unusual symptoms immediately.
Rabies is 100% preventable but 100% fatal once symptoms appear. Act fast, follow the steps, and stay safe.

Who should get this vaccination?
Residents of Lakhimpur Kheri, especially those in rural areas or those who have frequent contact with stray animals.
Is the human vaccine safe?
Yes. The anti-rabies vaccine used in this drive is WHO-approved, widely used globally, and safe for all age groups including children and pregnant women.
How many doses are required?
For post-exposure prophylaxis (after a bite), typically 4–5 doses are given on Days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28. For pre-exposure, 3 doses are given over 28 days.
What should I bring to the camp?
Please bring any government-issued ID for registration. Walk-in registration is available at all centers.
